This child presented with sinus tachycardia and weight loss.

What is the diagnosis?

Discussion :
As is seen in this picture, the child has a midline swelling in the neck suggestive of a goitre. This child has HYPERTHYROIDISM. Common symptoms and signs of hyperthyroidism are palpitations, heat intolerance, nervousness, insomnia, breathlessness, increased bowel movements, fatigue, tachycardia, tremors, weight loss, muscle weakness, warm moist skin and hair loss. Staring gaze may be seen in long standing disease.
There are several causes of hyperthyroidism.The most common underlying cause of hyperthyroidism is Graves' disease. Treatment consists of antithyroid drugs, radio-iodine, surgery.
