Benzyl Benzoate

Mechanism :

Benzyl benzoate is an efficient acaricide and is indicated for the treatment of scabies and pediculosis.


Indication :

  • Scabies
  • Pediculosis

Contraindications :

None.


Dosing :

Scabies:
Apply to the whole body except the head and face. Usually one application is sufficient. Second application can be made within five days of the first. The patient has a hot bath
12 hours after the last application.
Pediculosis:
Use in children >5 years of age. The affected region is coated with benzyl benzoate followed by a wash 24 hours later with soap and water.

Adverse Effect :

Skin irritation, transient burning sensation.


Interaction :

No known drug interactions.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
