Question
Can an infant get neurocysticercosis? If so, what symptoms can a parent see in the infant? Also, will this result in having feeding problems? Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer
Yes, an infant can get neurocysticercosis, though it is very rare. Since it passes through tapeworm ingestion, it is predominantly seen in patients who eat pork. However, vegetarian food contaminated with fragments of tapeworm may lead to infection. Patients usually present with convulsions.
