Question
My 13 year old daughter tested for protein in her urine. The doctor wants to retest her in 1 month but hasn't told me what he is looking for or what could cause it. He stated that if appears next month she will need further testing. What causes protein in her urine and how is it treated? Thank you.
Answer
Cause of protein in urine are various of which the common cause is exercise, fever, kidney disease and nephrotic syndrome. If it is very large, she needs investigation for the same. If it is less, one can wait and watch and see if it increases then further tests for kidney disease may be required.
