Question
I would like to know if taking an herbal remedy for hypothyroidism would be bad for my breast fed 4-month-old baby? The ingredients seemed harmless and include Fucusvesiculosus,Avena sativa,Coleus forskohlii, and approx. 1% pure pharmaceutical grain ethanol when diluted as directed. Would it be okay for me to take this while breast-feeding without harming my baby?
Answer
There are quite safe and reliable medicines for hypothyroidism in allopathy, which can be given even if the mother is breast-feeding. We would be unable to comment on the herbal preparation and its effect on the child.
