Question
My son, age 16 months, has recently had prolaspe of rectum while passing the stool. There are sometimes traces of blood. He does not have constipation and the stool is soft. When the prolaspe takes place, it has to be manually pushed back after applying a jelly. What are the remedies available? What are the diet to be followed for such child?
Answer
Rectal prolapse requires care and repositioning manually whenever it comes out. Rectal prolapse may occur with worm infestation, malnutrition. All these need to be corrected and if it still persists, surgery may be required.
