Question
My Granddaughter had a test I believe its called a sigmoidoscopy. We were told she might have Lymph Nodes in her colon. Did we understand right, is it normal that they are there?
Answer
What was the reason that your child was subjected for a sigmoidoscopy? Regarding the lymph nodes in the colon, one needs to try and fit it into the clinical diagnosis. Also a biopsy of the nodes would help in the diagnosis. Enlarged nodes in the intestine can be due to a variety of reasons such as infection, cancer etc. One needs to correlate the clinical picture with biopsy findings.
