Question
If a child is 11 years old and has been diagnosed with gingivitis and is not being treated how long before it will be reversible by RX?
Answer
Gingivitis if not treated in the early stages can lead to peridontal disease later in life that may cause recession of the gums and finally the alveolar bones leading to early loss of teeth. In severe stages, peridontal surgery i.e. gum surgery is required to save the teeth. However, if oral hygiene is not maintained then gingivitis may tend to recur.
