I have an 8 year old, whom I have taken to the doctor at least 4 times in the past year because I am concerned about her weight but her doctor only took blood tests and said she is a little thick but that is all. He ever says and now she is starting to sneak her food. I am very concerned. She is 8 years old and she must be atleast 100lbs what can I do or where do I go?
Answer
What your child needs is evaluation for her obesity. She needs to be assessed by a pediatric endocrinologist. Also check her height. If she is taller, then most likely cause of her obesity is overeating. Treatment would consist of exercise, correct food (not in quantity and but less caloric food) and motivation.
