Question
We noticed what appears to be light colored "peach fuzz" hair on our 11 month old daughter's vagina several months ago (if extended the hairs can be 1/2 inch or so). It hasn't gone away, nor has it increased. We asked our pediatrician about it and he seemed surprised by it, but not overly concerned. Have you ever heard of this and should we be concerned?
Answer
Your daughter seems to have development of pubic hair which is not normal at this age. She needs to be completely evaluated for this precocious hair development and a consultation with a pediatric endocrinologist is required.
