Question
Is there anything that can be done for poikilothermia? My friend's daughter has holoprosencephaly and they think she has this because her fever won't go down
Answer
Poikilothermia may be seen with holoprosencephaly due to affection of the hypothalamus. If the fever does not come down with antipyretics, a central cause of fever such as a brain lesion is suspected provided infection, inflammation and malignancy has been ruled out. Treatment consists of NSAIDS such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
