Question
I have been suspected of rheumatic fever and all the symptoms came out correct. That is mu esr was 35, aso was 400 and crp was +ve and I started on peptide tablets( pencillin tablets). After 5 days I met another cardiologist (when I was on the pencillin) who took the test again and all the result came normal except ASO what should I do, I still have small swellings in arm and leg.
Answer
Since you had symptoms of joint swellings, positive ASLO and positive ESR, the diagnosis of Rheumatic fever was decided. You are already on oral pentads as a result the acute inflammation is coming down and so the ESR and CRP are normal. However till the time the joint swelling remains you will need to be on anti-inflammatory medications. Also a 2Decho would be required to see for any involvement of the heart. You will need to be on long term penicillin injection to prevent further relapse. Adequate rest is also necessary to prevent further complications from occurring.
