Question
My daughter aged 12months one week is suffering from moderate fever for the last 15 days. Use of antibiotics etc hasn't made any improvement. As per doctor it is viral fever. Can viral fever last for 15 days? Blood test didn't reveal any abnormality except for a low HB.
Answer
A fever of more than 15 days needs to be evaluated. A minimum of the blood counts, urine test, stool test, X ray of the chest and WIDAL test (test for typhoid) would be required. Depending upon her other symptoms (cough, vomiting, headache, jaundice etc), additional tests may be required. Get her evaluated by a pediatrician.
