Question
Our 2year old son had undesended testicles. At hospital they used a telescope to find they but none where found what changes are there of our son being fertile and is there any such thing as transplants to resolve this problem? We would like any help on this matter as it means a great deal to us
Answer
What we derive from this is that your son has undecended testis that are not detected on telescope. This means that your son has no palpable gonads. First and foremost it would be important to determine whether your son has testis in the abdomen for which an ultrasound would be required. If there are no testis seen, then it would be important to do karyotype of the child and determine the genetic sex as your child has ambiguous gentitalia. At the same time blood test to determine testosterone level in the blood is important. You need to consult a pediatric endocrinologist for the same as it is very important to determine the correct sex of the child and then to determine the future rearing practice and treatment depending upon the etiology. If the testis are present in the abdomen and the blood testosterone levels are adequate, depending upon the normalcy of the testis, a decision can be taken regarding restoration of the testis in the scrotum or implants etc. For more details on Undescended testis, read the article on "UNDESCENDED TESTIS" on www.pediatriconcall.com or from the link given below:
