Question
I have a son 15 months old. He was able to sit and walk by support and speak some words. Few days before the case started by the following : he was not able to stand then not able to sit then he can not respond to us he sleeps on his back and can not move . only opening his eyes and he is drinking by difficulty . His reflexes is like knee jerk is normal or sometimes exaggerated please help me what is the primary diagnosis of this case.
Answer
Get him examined by a good pediatrician at the earliest. He seems to have paralysis of the muscles that is increasing in intensity. An imaging of the brain such as CT scan or MRI may be required. He may even to need to get admitted in a hospital as the weakness may even affect his respiratory muscles.
