My grandson is three and a half he will go to the toilet to do a wee but he has a fear of using his bowels on the toilet he will work himself into such a state that he will vomit, he wants to put a nappy on to do a poo but will go to the toilet to do a wee when he does a bowel motion he cries we have had him to the doctors nothing has ever happened to him physically. Although his mum and dad did separate 2 years ago .any suggestions would be much appreciated.thanks.

You have mentioned that he cries while doing a motion. Is it only when he sits on the potty or is it also when he uses the nappy? If it is every time, rule out constipation and fissure as they would be the commonest causes that would make him hold back his stools causing more harder stools and thus more pain while passing stools. A mild laxative would be useful in such a case.
