Question
I have a 5-year old son with the following hematology lab report RBC:3.95/HCT:34.8/MCV:88/RDW:13.1/HGB:10.1/MCH:26/MCHC:29/ PLT:302/MPV:6.2/WBC11.5/GRA%:52/LYM%:45/EOS%:02/MON%:01 What is your opinion on the above results ? He has been on Ferroglobin medication for one month.
Answer
Your child has low hemoglobin for which he is already receiving ferroglobin. He would require to take it for 2-3 months and a repeat test may be required to check how much the hemoglobin has risen along with the reticulocyte count. Apart from that it would be worth while to deworm him if he has not been dewormed recently. Consult your doctor for the same.
