Question
Is there any type of electric or battery operated device to help clear the nasal passage of a three month old? The off the counter ball suction type is not adequate?
Answer
Normally nasal suction is done with the rubber ball. If you find it difficult to clean, maybe the crusts have become dry. Instilling little bit of normal saline (through saline nasal drops) would be useful. Electric nasal suction is usually done in the hospital for critical patients and not routinely. It has to be done by proper technique and trained personal. For cleaning the nostrils of a normal 3 month old, regular suctioning is not required. Just cleaning the nose with cotton buds is enough. Hope this answers your query.
