Question
My son who is 13 is in his first stages of puberty and we have noticed a lump under one of his breasts, its about the size of a pea. Is this normal?
Answer
It is not common to have a small pea sized lump in the breast. Generalized enlargement of the breast may be seen in pubertal boys due to increased estrogen formation and usually subsides on its own. This condition is known as gynaecomastia. However if it a pea sized lump it is better to show the doctor.
