Question
My 8 day old son has cephalhematoma, although delivery was normal without any assistive devices such as vacuum or forceps. The swelling is on the side of his head. My question is, do we need to keep the swelled area from any pressure? We are placing his head on his side when he sleeps, and were wondering if we should not put his head down where the swelling is located.
Answer
There is no need to apply pressure. It will resolve on its own..
