Question
My son has a dark purplish bruise on his thigh where his 2 month immunization was administered. There is also a hard lump under the bruise which worries me. Will he have muscle damage?
Answer
Sometimes children may develop a lump following immunization which disappears over a period of time. Sometimes if there is a blood vessel nearby, it may bleed leading to the purple color. However if the bleeding is large, i.e. there is a hematoma, one needs to rule out a bleeding disorder such as Hemophilia in him. Consult your pediatrician for the same.
