Question
Hello. My younger brother (18 years) has just been diagnosed with scoliosis in this upper back. I was just wondering if you could recommend any alternative treatment for him to take or do. He has not been given anything and has been told surgery would be a last option as he is so young and it is not affecting him in any way as of yet. I would be grateful if you could let me know. Thank you.
Answer
The treatment for scoliosis depends on the degree of scoliosis. If less and the curvature is not increasing, one need not do anything about it. If it is moderate, one needs to wait and watch and see if the curvature is increasing. Bracing may be required. If it is severe and causing lot of deformity, surgery may be the answer.
