Question
Could a leiomyoma (fibroid - uterine tissue)that is attached to the lower pole of the kidney and left to grow for many years cause RTA? I would be willing to give more detailed info, if you need it.
Answer
RTA is due to tubular damage to the kidney and due to a congenital disorder. Kidney disease over a period of time may lead to acidosis but that is a part of renal dysfunction and is not RTA. Fibroid does not lead to RTA.
