Question
I read that babies wake up in the middle of the night is not because they are hungry. Why do they wake up then? They further mention that giving cereal to them before bedtime does not make them sleep through the night because they are more full than just drinking milk. Is that true?
Answer
Babies have still not formed a set sleep-awake cycle and as a result they tend to wake up at unusual times. They set into a cycle by 2-3 months of age and some babies would still prefer to get up in the middle of the night for a night feed.
Giving cereal or milk does not affect the sleep. However a baby with full stomach will sleep more soundly.
