My daughter is 2 years and 6 months old. She had three urinary tract infections in last two months. I am really worried. The pediatric nephrologist is suggesting to undergo MCU and radio X-ray test. My daughter (4 years) have fever for the last 4 days. Doctor prescribed Wikoryl and Meftal. Even after 4 days she did not recover fully. On the fourth day she started shivering and vomiting. On urine examination, it was found that 8-10 Pus cells, Occ RBCs and bacteria's are present in urine. Doctor told it is UTI. But my child did not have any itching or pain during urination. Whether UTI can occur without pains?

A few weeks ago my 4.5 year old son used a grimy toilet in a train and, after finishing his pee, he forgot to hold up his penis and dragged it across the grimy rim. There were no facilities for wiping him so I could only wash him some hour later. No symptoms so far but I have heard of UTI's that are asymptomatic go undetected. Do I need to check this out?

Question Category : UTI
My daughter is 3 1/2 and has several UTIs. I believe that she has had approx 7-9 in less than a year. Her doctor puts her on antibiotics, rotating between two due to allergies to medicine. I am just concerned because the pharmacist suggested taking her to a specialist. Should I take her to a specialist and what will they more than likely do?
Question Category : UTI
My grandchild had Three UTI's in the last month and is only three months old. This time the bacteria are enterobacter cloacae and she was only treated 2 days with I.V. Tobramycin. Do you think they should have done another urinary culture before sending her home from the hospital? The specialist doesn't want to see her until May and I would like to know if this is too long?

IF THIS TEST DOESN'T SHOW ANYTHING IS THERE ANY OTHER TESTS THAT I SHOULD REQUEST THAT MY DAUGHTERS DOCTOR RUN?
Question Category : UTI
My daughter at the age of 10 months had corrective surgery for a Grade 4 kidney reflux. At the time we were told that she would need no follow up unless she had a break through infection. Since she has turned 3 in March she has had 2 infections and her Ped feels she needs to see the specialist. I have set her appointment twice and hope to see him soon. But I am looking for information as to why this might be happening. Her right kidney was not growing and the left had substantial damage at the time of the surgery and her ped feels that the kidneys might be damaged to the point of possible failure. Can you give me any information? Thank you for your help
Question Category : UTI
My daughter(7 yrs old) has had recurring UTI's since she was 5 yrs old. Her specialist is wanting to put her on a low dose/long term antibiotic(nitrofurantion 50mg) until the time she hits puberty. Are there any side effects to long term that I should be aware of? Damage to teeth, lower tolerance to other infections etc. Thank you for you time.
Question Category : UTI
My nephew was first diagnosed with UTI, he is only ten weeks old. He was put on antibiotics and the urine was cultured. The culture didn't show a UTI but a elevated White count, the doctor then did a spinal tap and sent them home. What could cause this and shouldn't they have kept him overnight for observation especially if they considered meningitis?
Question Category : UTI
My daughter is 4.5 next month. She has had recurring Bladder Infections & I believe this makes her 3rd UTI. Her Doctor’s office said the Doctor wanted to speak with me, but cannot see me until the weekend (in all a 7 day wait. This concerns me. All they would tell me is that he ordered a GU workup, which no-one seems to be able to explain to me just what this is. The main concern comes from family history. My Aunt, died when she was 20, the cause, kidney failure. Her parents were told time & time again, nothing was wrong, she was fine......then when she was hospitalized, she died, they took to long to do testing. My brother, now 24, had a surgery at age 3. It was a dilation of his urethra. I understand that she may not inherit these things, but am I being to pushy to ask that they run every test under the moon to make sure? Not that I want her to be put through these tests, but i would feel better knowing that she is healthy & there is no underlying illness that could possibly be fatal. Thank-you very much for your time! A Mother in need of advice.
