I took my 3 months old baby girl for vaccination few days ago. As usual, the doctor took her weight, length and head circumference. The doctor said her head circumference is smaller than the "normal size" guide. May I know why is it important to measure baby's head circumference, and if it's smaller than normal babies what does it mean? Will this affect her brain/mental development? Thanks so much.

Question Category : Growth
Dear Doctor, My daughter was in the range of 100 Th percentile of length(31 inches) and 50th percentile of weight(18 lbs) when she was 10th months. Now 4 months later she is still 31 inches ( fell down to around 50th percentile in height) and 23 lbs ( 75th percentile in weight). I am worried of this complete lack of height gain for the last 4 months. Mentally she is developing correctly and now can express her self very well mostly by sign and sometimes verbally. My self and my husband both are of average height so I would not be surprised if she also turns out to be of average height but this complete lack of height gain over such a long period of time is worrying me. She does not seem to have calcium deficiency because she takes 16-20 ounces of dairy products daily and recently got 4 teeth ( totalling to 15 teeth ).Also can you please suggest what tests we might need to perform to ascertain if there is some problem with her or not.
Question Category : Growth
We took our 2yr. 11.5 mo. daughter to a growth clinic at a near by children hospital. A large amount of lab test were done and I was sent the results.(none of which I could tell and thing about)They also done a bone age of her hand and nothing was stated in the letter as to if it was normal or not About the only thing that I did understand was that she was thought to be of short stature. I am on the short side myself being 5ft 2in but my husband is 6ft. We have two other children and their height and weight has always been normal for their age. A bit above at times for my son. They also stated in the letter that they may test her for Turnners in the furture. Other than short stature she has no signs of turners. She had two hemangiomas removed when she was 8 months old. One of which was under the skin at the base of her skull.I was wondering if possibly she could have another hemangioma inside somewhere that could be causing her not to grow correctly. Her eating seems to be the same as the other children in my daycare so i don't feel like that is our problem. When she was 19 months old she weighed 19lbs. She is now 35 months old and weighs 20.9 lbs. She is 30.5 inches tall. She wears a size 4 or 5 in shoes and has very small hands ears nose and thin fingers. She is in preportion. Just very small portions. She is active, smart and very seldom sick. Our family doctor ask about her every time any of our family is in the clinic and seem to not be at all happy with THIS clinic at our children hospital. Also I might should let you know that she did suffer a fall/drop when she was less than 2 days old at the hospital as a result of a nurse being in a hurry to get all the babies to the mothers rooms before shif change. But a head X-ray done the next day showed no fractures to the skull. She was also a 37.1 week baby that weighed 5.1 lbs and was 18 inches long. Both of my other children were also 18 inches long and one at 37 weeks weighed 7.1 lbs and the other weighed 6 lbs 3 ozs at 41 weeks. I'm going to say this because it is a common question I have never drank, smoked or done any type of drugs that could be the cause of her slow growth. Please let me know your suggestions. I am very worried about her and feel like we have been put on hold at the growth clinic because I was told that I could not talk to the doctor until our return visit in three months and that that was soonest that any one could see her.
