Question
A 5wk old child was referred by health visitor regarding that the baby was not gaining weight. He was basically bottle fed, takes 5 oz every 3 hours c & g. Baseline bloods including FBC U&E LFT TFT BONE PROFILE WERE normal except sr phosphate is high which is 2.42. We have not yet got a diagnosis but o/e has GRD 3/6 sm+ CXR was normal. Could you tell what other investigation we do in this baby.
Answer
Since there is a systolic murmur, get an echo done to rule out a congenital heart disease. Get a venous blood analysis done to rule out acidosis. Also check the renal function tests.
