Question
My daughter will be 5 years in April. She was a preterm baby of 7th month. She has not yet caught up on her weight and is only 11 kgs now. Though we are giving her all required nutrients along with daily supplement of simly-mct oil. she is having poor weight gain. i want to know what kind of problems she may have in future due to poor weight gain? Will it effect her eyes? What should I do from now so that she always has healthy eyes? Are there vitamin A drops available in the market or anything of that sort which will keep her eye healthy as the kids are nowadays exposed to television and computer since a very young age.
Answer
What is the height of the child? Till her height is fine and she is otherwise growing well, one need not be too worried about the weight. Regarding the eyes, make sure she does not see too much computer or TV, wash eyes daily with cold water and ensure a healthy balanced diet. There is no need for additional vitamin supplements if her diet is fine.
