A patients 7 month daughter received the 23 valent pneumococcal vaccine in error. The baby had no immediate side effects but the mother is still extremely concerned. Respected Sir, a stray dog has bitten a boy , who has received two doses of Rabies vaccine. Now this boy while playing bit another with his teeth girl child. The parents of this girl child are worried whether their daughter should receive Anti rabies vaccine. Sir, what is your advice to the parents in this situation. Am I right if i tell them not to give the anti rabies vaccine? As human to human transmission is rare. This boy is receiving vaccine and hence has started developing antibodies. IAP has mentioned 5th PRIMARY DOSE of OPV at 6th month of age. But latest 2005 version of IAP guidelines of IAP has not mentioned it. SIMILARLY MANY POOR PEOPLE avoid going only for OPV VACCINATION. IS it mandatory to insist on 5th dose? now a days all 3 HepB vaccine are given with 3 primary DPT doses. so is there no other vaccine than OPV 5 at 6th month? Check Out the Answer

I am a parent of a child who is 25 days old. The mother has contacted chicken pox two days ago and is under isolation from the child. I have been advised by various peds to get the child vaccinated by VZIG. However, the immunoglobulin is not available at present. Whichever chemist have it, say that it is from grey market and is to be given intra venous rather than intra muscular. Please advise from where I can get the vaccine. I am from chandigarh.
