Dinitro compounds
 
Dinitro-orthocresol and dinitrophenol are commonly used weed killers

Route : Ingestion, inhalation, skin contact

Fatal dose : 1 to 2 gms

Fatal Period : 4 to 15 days

Mechanism of action : They act by greatly increasing the cellular metabolism of any cell they come in contact with.

Clinical picture : •Yellow color of the skin and hair
•Burns of lip and buccal mucosa
•Anxiety, restlessness, tiredness, insomnia, convulsions and coma
•Hyperthermia and intense perspiration
•Tachypnoea nad pulmonary edema
•Tachycardia and arrhthmias
•Acute renal failure and acute hepatic necrosis


Treatment : •-Symptomatic
